In February 2025, something extraordinary happened — a group of eleven brave girls from the Turks & Caicos Islands stood under bright lights in Orlando, Florida, ready to compete not just for medals, but for their dreams.

Representing Provo Gymnastics Academy, and by extension, their entire country, these young athletes became the first-ever gymnastics team from TCI to compete internationally at the prestigious Presidential Classics, one of the largest events of its kind in the U.S., with over 3,000 competitors from around the world.

They were nervous. Who wouldn’t be? But their nerves turned into fuel. Every vault, every landing, every routine was executed with heart, grit, and pride.

And then — magic.

The Provo Gymnastics team returned home with 4 gold medals, 6 silver, 5 bronze, and a team bronze medal. For a nation new to the world of gymnastics, this wasn’t just a victory — it was history.

Among the shining moments, one gymnast captured gold in all apparatuses and ranked 72nd out of 3125 gymnasts, a result that sent a wave of inspiration through her teammates. That golden moment wasn’t just a personal victory — it was a spark. A reminder that the true strength of a team lies not only in skill, but in the shared spirit of effort, unity, and heart.

Parents cheered. Coaches cried. Flags waved. The name “Turks & Caicos Islands” rang out in a crowded arena, and every heart beat with pride.

This achievement was no accident. It was the result of years of quiet training, passionate coaches, determined young athletes, and a vision led by founder Karin Hess and her dedicated team. TCI’s Sports Commissioner, Jarrett Forbes, called it what it is: “A transformative moment for our youth.”

This is only the beginning. These girls have shown that dreams born on a small island can shine on the world’s biggest stages.

Let’s celebrate them. Let’s support them. And most of all — let’s believe in what comes next.
